Ondo State Approves Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Hubs to Boost Local Drug Manufacturing

The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening local Pharmaceutical manufacturing following the approval of the Ondo State Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences Hubs under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
The development was disclosed during a working visit by the Ondo State Program Coordinator on HIV and Viral Hepatitis, Pharm. (Mrs.) Taiwo Adeyemi, to the Office of the Senior Consultant on Pharmaceuticals and Medical Investments at the State Ministry of Health, Alagbaka, Akure.
Speaking during the visit, Pharm. Adeyemi emphasized the need for increased investment in the local production of HIV medications to improve access, reduce costs, and enhance healthcare delivery.
In response, the Senior Consultant on Pharmaceuticals and Medical Investments, Dr. Samuel Oluwaoromipin Adekola, confirmed that Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had earlier approved the establishment of the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Hubs. According to Dr. Adekola, the initiative is designed to attract investors, promote Pharmaceutical manufacturing, and position Ondo State as a leading health and life sciences production hub within the sub-region.
The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to healthcare innovation, job creation, and the development of a sustainable Pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
